A concert to mark the 150th anniversary of Aldbourne Band takes place at St John’s School theatre in Marlborough next Friday.

The award-winning village band will be joined by the Great Western Chorus from Bristol to perform a selection of popular songs, including Van Morrison’s Moondance and hits from the musicals.

First cornet Chris Lewis, who won the best soloist award at the Wychavon Brass Band Contest, will have a solo spot.

The event will also feature the release of the band’s latest CD – 150 Not Out. Long-serving conductor David Williams, who is leaving the area, makes his farewell appearance by opening the concert with pieces from the CD.

The new musical director, Tom Devoran will then take up the baton .

Tickets at £10 are available at the White Horse Book Shop in Marlborough. The price includes a glass of wine at the reception from 7pm. The concert starts at 8pm.
