Vintage car enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of Woody, the earliest recorded Austin Seven Countryman at the Castle Combe Race Circuit this weekend.

The 1960 Mark 1 Woody, which is owned by Wiltshire pensioner Gerry Taylor, will be on show at the MiniWorld Action Day on Saturday.

Mr Taylor, of Swindon, bought the car 33 years ago for £130 and is as proud as punch to have been asked to lead the procession. “She will be there in her own right, not as part of a stall,” he said.

The car will be on display at the Castle Combe Race Circuit from 9am on Saturday.

The car was launched 50 years ago on October 9 and Mr Taylor is planning an anniversary drive on that date from Wootton Bassett and Lyneham to the Atwell Wilson Motor Museum in Calne.

The procession will raise money for Help For Heroes.
