A new community website designed to attract visitors to Malmesbury and promote interaction between residents has been launched.

Malmesbury.com is run by Justin and Ruth Jeffrey, from Burton Hill, who have lived in the town for more than 20 years.

Mr Jeffrey, 42, said: “It really started out of a love of Malmesbury and wanting to promote the town. I bought the domain name in 2000 and have been thinking what to do with it ever since.

“Malmesbury is full of people doing great things but they often struggle to get their voices heard, we aim to change that.

“The website appears in the top three on a Google search for Malmesbury, so we’re already confident our new online presence will also help attract more visitors to the town.”

He added: “Anyone can contribute if they’ve got access to the internet, all they have to do is sign up and then promote their cause, flag up an event, tell the town about their business or just make new friends on the forums.

“People can upload their own press releases and notices onto the front page.”

The site was created by Mindvision Media, which the couple run from the Malmesbury Business Park.

Malmesbury Chamber of Commerce is supporting the new website. Commerce chairman Warren Hateley said: “We are encouraging businesses and community groups to liaise with each other because we should all be sharing ideas.”
