As the final ballots have been verified at the Olympiad for the new constituency for the Chippenham area, the vote count has got under way, at just after 01.30am.
Count staff have worked since 10pm making sure the number of votes sent in to the count tally up with the number of votes cast in polling stations in Chippenham, Corsham and Bradford-on-Avon.
The turnout for Chippenham has been revealed as 72.74 per cent, a surprisingly high figure.
The turn out across the country for the general election in 2005 was 61 per cent.
Turnout for South West Wiltshire was 68.5 per cent and in Devizes 68.87 per cent.
