PURTON'S match at league leaders Apperley was abandoned with the game delicately balanced.
Purton batted first and struggled to 99 on a lively wicket, Bowler top-scoring with 24.
In reply Apperley found it equally difficult and lost both of their openers in the first five overs to the bowling of Bowler.
The hosts were on the wrack at 35 for four when the heavens opened, making further play impossible.
Purton 2nd XI won by eight wickets at home to Apperley 2nd XI. Chasing 141 to win, Ben Collier (49no) and Toby Clarke (51) saw them home with several overs to spare.
