IN another closely fought match Wiltshire 50+ failed by 15 runs to reach the total set by Dorset.
Electing to bat, Dorset were restricted to 38 runs for two in the first 18 overs due to some fine bowling by skipper John Waterman (South Wilts) two wickets for 18 runs from nine overs and Des Jeffery (South Newton) nine overs for 15 runs.
However, Dorset quickened their pace partly helped by some fielding lapses and missed chances by Wiltshire.
The rate was restricted later in the innings by a steady closing spell by Geoff Osborne who finished with three for 45 from his nine overs.
Chasing 173 to win, Wiltshire got away to a good start with Keith Redding (Salisbury Wanderers) 32 and Peter Hagelthorn 22.
The scoring rate slowed before Gwyn Blenkinsop (Farley) 40 and James Ridge (Malmesbury) 12 recovered the momentum. Wickets kept falling and Wiltshire ended at 158-9.
The next match is against Channel Isles at South Wilts CC in Salisbury on July 18.
