THE SEASON started off in fine style for Wroughton angler Paul Bailey as he scooped a major catch.

An early morning start on the River Avon at Sutton Benger saw him take 75lb of bream, tench and perch.

The catch taken between 4am and 9am was taken on the pole using caster as bait.

Paul, a new ISIS AC member, snapped up ten bream. The largest was 9-9-0, which he is claiming a River Avon record.

Meanwhile, the first of three Tockenham Lake open matches was a cracker with the winning catch taken by John Sherwood, consisting of 60-6-0 of skimmers and roach. Carp showed up in the catches of the second placed angler Mick Robins 54-12-0 and third placed Sharon Dobson 39-10-0.

Section weights were also very good. Gary Davis took 32-14-0 to win his section and Simon Collins won the other with 31-0-0 of skimmers.
