SWINDON youngsters should have no excuse for crying 'I'm bored' during the summer holidays.
The Children's University Summer 2000 programme will provide places for up to 2,000 youngsters in school years five to seven and eight to 10.
University staff, past pupils and councillors gathered at Hreod Parkway School to celebrate a cash boost for the project.
About £45,000 has been provided by Swindon Borough Council, the New Opportunities Fund and Southern Arts.
The money will be used to finance more than 100 courses, spanning three weeks of the summer holidays.
Youngsters will be able to spend their mornings at New College on a variety of weird and wonderful courses.
Rob Crow, manager of the Children's University, said: The university is in its third year and we have seen course places rise from about 150 in 1998 to 2,000 in 2000. "
Courses start on July 31, August 7 and August 14 respectively.
