YOUNG women in Swindon are turning to prostitution to feed their drug addiction, it has been claimed.
The annual report by the charity Druglink says there has been an increase in prostitution among young women in the town.
The report states that drug use in the past 12 months is up by 15 per cent a total of 600 new clients have gone to the charity for help compared to the previous year.
A spokesman for Druglink, which runs at Drug Advisory Centre in Victoria Road, said that last year, six of the clients who went to the organisation for help were girls under 16.
The charity says that these girls are victims of child abuse, encouraged by drug dealers to have sex with adults in return for drugs or money.
Druglink has recently appointed two new members of staff in the hope that the increased support will stop this growing trend which last year saw 11 per cent of new clients as girls under the age of 18.
