A CZECH choir filled a Swindon church with song.

The Ondrasek Children's Choir come from a school close to the border between the Czech Republic and Poland.

A total of 60 young people aged 10-18 are repeating a visit which was made by pupils in 1996.

They spent the day visiting Avebury stones and ice skating at Link Centre before performing music old and new at the Immanuel Church, Upham Road, one of whose congregation is borough council solicitor Francis Maples.

Mr Maples said: The choir has won a variety of awards at competitions and toured Japan, Italy and South Africa.

During the Immanuel concert, the floodlights of nearby Christ Church were switched on in honour of the singers.

While staying at the church hall, the choir slept in beds borrowed from RAF Lyneham.
