LAST year's Marlborough carnival queen attendant, Alison Taylor, enjoyed the event so much that she decided to enter again this year.
And delighted Alison has been selected as the Millennium 2000 carnival queen.
Alison, 21, who lives in Coldharbour Lane, is currently working in the bakery section at Somerfield supermarket while she waits to hear the results of her finals at Worcester University, where she has been studying art and design and education studies.
Last year's carnival was excellent and I enjoyed it so much as carnival queen attendant that I decided to go in for it again, she said.
It was the first time in the contest for Katie Ball, 19, from Lockeridge, who was chosen as attendant after her friends talked her into taking part.
All my friends kept telling me to do it, she said.
Katie, who works at the Cameo salon in Chiseldon, and Alison are both ex-students of St John's School.
Alison won £200 and Katie received £100. Both will be given gowns from Carriages at Three to attend carnival events, a hair makeover and a photo shoot.
