MEMBERS of the public will be able to voice their ideas on how Savernake Hospital should serve the community when the trust which paid towards an inquiry into its role, holds a public meeting later this year.

The Savernake Hospital Inquiry Fund Trust, together with the Wiltshire Health Authority, sponsored the inquiry by the Welsh Institute of Health and Social Care whose report was published last year.

The Ridgeway Downs Primary Care Group recently appointed Peter Williams as its project manager to investigate how the recommendations of the WIHSC report can best be implemented.

SHIFT is calling a public meeting on October 24 at Marlborough Town Hall to discuss the report and to hear Mr Williams talk about how Savernake Hospital can be developed in future.

SHIFT chairman Bill Spray said it will distribute leaflets a month before the meeting. They will set out the various options which have emerged.

Both floors of the Town Hall have been booked for the public meeting because of the anticipated interest.

There will be a session at the end of the meeting for the general public to express their views.
