The world's best endurance athletes are coming to Coate Water on Sunday for the Hi-Tec adventure racing series.
Nearly 200 mixed teams will compete in the event, which comprises a trail run, an off-road mountain bike ride and a flat-water kayak over a 20-mile course. It begins at 8am and the top performers will finish in about three hours.
The race is the second of three to take place in the UK over the summer. It will feature World Champion blind triathlete Tim Reddish and Britain's top female, ex-Elite model Sarah Odell.
Celebrity participants include former Scotland Grand Slam-winning rugby player Scott Hastings and gladiator Siren.
The competing teams will have their wits tested throughout the course by army-devised mental and physical agility tasks.
The winning team will go on an all expenses paid trip to take part in the USA finals in New York State in October.
Three-man teams from the Swindon area include: Swindon Slappers, Shrivenham, SWAT and Sec/Ops Tri.
Graham Edmondson, captain of the Slappers, said: We're not taking it too seriously. It's just a bit of fun for us.
