A MULTI-CULTURAL football tournament is to be held in the Swindon area for the first time on Sunday, July 9.
The Swindon Asian Football Club and the Bengali Association of Swindon have organised the event at the Allied Dunbar Sports Centre in Wanborough.
It will feature 16 teams from Swindon and other parts of the country from a mixture of races and the trophy will be presented by former Swindon Town star Sean Taylor.
The SAFC, which has just completed its first competitive season by finishing runners-up in division three of the Swindon and District Football League, originally wanted to host an all-Asian tournament.
But the initial response was poor and club secretary Dev Ram decided to spread the net wider.
It's looking like it will be a good tournament, he said.
If all goes well, we are hoping to turn this event into an annual thing.
The event is being supported by the Football Association, which has provided the referees and linesmen.
