COLIN TODD cast his experienced eye over the new-look Town squad and promised there would be more to come.

He welcomed four new signings and six trialists to the first day of pre-season training at Allied Dunbar. But he was quick to point out that the search for new talent would not stop here.

He wants to find a third goalkeeper and has two more trialists joining the ranks before Sunday.

While the four new men settled in well, striker Martin Williams was not at training and has yet to complete a deal.

We have made four new signings and there is still a little bit to be done in the Martin Williams deal. A little bit of give and take is required, he said.

Keith O'Halloran can play wide right, which is probably where I will use him, but he can also play inside. He was highly thought of up at Middlesbrough and broke into the first team.

He had three good years at St Johnstone and I like him as a player. At 24 he has a lot to offer and hopefully we can get even more out of him.

Argentinian Juan Cobian has been a favourite of Todd's for some time and nearly joined him at Bolton last year.

Juan was a player I had at Bolton for pre-season but I was not allowed to sign him, he said. He went up to Aberdeen and they wanted to keep him, but he decided to come down and play for Swindon.

It says a lot that players want to sign for this club. I think the feel is that we can go forward again. It is not going to happen overnight, there is a lot of work to be done in building the squad.

Matt Hewlett is another good player. A former under-21 who has gone off the boil a little. I don't know why and it is up to me and himself to rekindle that form of two years ago. We have given him that chance and he has to grasp it.

There were 30 players at training, but Todd only wants a completed squad of about 22 players, with three keepers.

Bart Griemink is in competition with young Mildenhall, he said. But I am still looking to bring in a third keeper. A lad we can pick up and who has a bright future ahead of him.

Todd was delighted to be back.

He said: It is very pleasing for me that the players are back in because it tells you that football is just around the corner again.
