THE chance to play under Colin Todd was enough to lure Juan Cobian to the County Ground.
Cobian, 24, was offered a new contract at Aberdeen and a return to Sheffield Wednesday, but instead opted to join Town on a three-year deal.
The fact that Colin is here was a big attraction, said Cobian. Everybody knows he's a Premiership-rated manager and he was a very talented footballer.
Swindon were relegated last season but I don't believe it's a club that should be playing in the second division.
The Argentinian full-back played alongside Diego Maradona at Boca Juniors before arriving in England for spells at Wednesday and Charlton.
He said: I spent a season with Maradona. He was a very nice person and it's unfortunate his career ended the way it did. He was an incredible footballer.
Cobian is delighted to have put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
It gives me some stability, which is what I've been looking for ever since I came to England, he said.
I certainly aim to show the people of Swindon what I can do. I had a good relationship with the fans at Sheffield Wednesday and Aberdeen and I hope to have the same here.
Superstition prevents the defender making any predictions on where Town will finish next season.
He said: There are some good players at this football club and I believe we can do well.
The players might have been a bit down at the end of last season but the manager has said that it is important everyone starts afresh and we'll be ready to go.
