DEVIZES progressed into the finals of the Hugh Baker Cup with a stunning victory over Swindon.

Batting first, Swindon took eight of Paul Vooght's first over, but after that it was all Devizes, with Vooght and Richard Bedbrook keeping the visitors down to only 43 runs for the loss of four wickets from the first 10 overs.

Vooght bowled exceptionally, claiming one for 12 of his five overs. He was backed up by Bedbrook, with 2 for 15 from his five overs.

With the run rate slightly increasing, both Shiv Singh and Neil Doran handled the pressure well and, backed up by some tight fielding, kept Swindon down to only 84 for the loss of nine wickets, with Shiv collecting two for 20 runs and Doran, bowling his five overs at the death for 33 runs.

Cock, with a solid 39, and Kahn, with a hard-hitting 16, were the top scorers for Swindon.

Chasing 85 to win, Devizes cruised home by 10 wickets, with overseas star Shiv hitting a majestic unbeaten 67. He was helped by Paul Stobbart, who took a back seat, knocking the ball around and giving the strike to Shiv, who finished the job off in style, taking Devizes to victory with five overs to spare.

Devizes look set to take on South Wilts away in the final on Tuesday, July 11.
