SWINDON Soft Water Robins asset Jimmy Nilsen has been banned from racing by his doctors but has vowed to fight through the pain of the cracked bones in his shoulder.

Nilsen, 33, who now rides for Elite League Oxford, initially sustained the injury in a league fixture.

The West Swindon-based rider then aggravated the injury competing in the Polish Grand Prix but he is adamant he will soon be back in action.

The Cheetahs skipper who has returned home to Sweden to convalesce, said: "I am out for two weeks. The doctors have checked the injury and racing did more damage, but I had to try.

"They said I must not ride again until it heals."

Nilsen believes that he will not fully recover for a couple of months, but he is determined to be back on the track before then.

He said: I" will be back in England for the league match at Oxford against Peterborough on July 14.

"I'm in pain, but you have to forget about that. I will play through the pain."

Nilsen captained the Swindon Robins until they dropped down from the top flight in 1999.
