FUNDRAISING parachutist Sarah Coyle broke her back when landing and had to be flown to hospital by Wiltshire's air ambulance the cause she was raising money for.
Miss Coyle, 18, a business studies student at Trowbridge College, was one of 12 students who made the jump at Netheravon.
But she landed awkwardly from the 3,500ft drop and broke two vertebrae. She said: I put the brakes on too soon and panicked. I fell hard on to my feet and then on to my back.
Emergency services were called but the ambulance ground crew decided to call the air ambulance, which flew her to Salisbury district hospital.
This week she was visited by air ambulance paramedic Bruce Jarvis, who said: The ground crew examined Sarah and thought the injury was severe enough to warrant the airlift.
Miss Coyle said Trowbridge College had been fundraising for the air ambulance since last September and she had still raised £320 towards its £200,000 annual running cost.
