BUSINESS boss Michael Webb has been sacked from his £32,000-a-year job for accessing pornography from the internet.

Mr Webb, manager of the West Wiltshire Economic Partnership, was found to have visited many pornographic sites in contravention of the partnership's internet policy.

The shocking discovery was made by experts employed by West Wiltshire District Council to monitor internet use.

Bath man Mr Webb, whose wife Debbie has just had the couples first baby, said he was considering appealing against his dismissal but did not deny he accessed the pornographic sites.

He said: "This has had a devastating effect on me and people close to me, but there is more than one side to this story."

He declined to elaborate further on the details, but said: "My wife has been understanding up to a point."

He said he was still considering his future. "I don't suppose I will be looking for another job in Trowbridge," he said.

District council chief executive Jeffrey Ligo, who is also on the board of the economic partnership, spoke of his disappointment at Mr Webb's actions, which he said had left the board with no option but to dismiss him.

"It was a very serious breach of the regulations," he said.

It is understood the pornographic material accessed by Mr Webb who was based at Trinity House in Trowbridge, was of an adult nature and did not involve any illegal material.

Police were not contacted during the inquiry set up by Mrs Speirs and Mr Ligo.
