Drive to cut fuel cost

I WOULD like to see the petrol companies, the garages in particular, showing some sympathy towards their customers when they collect the petrol tax, at the now daft, unstainable rate it is now, about £45 per tank full.

I would like them to display the price of the fuel, say 22p plus Government tax, say 66p, total 88p.

When you are looking to buy fuel, drive on until you see a friendly garage, one that has, perhaps, a slogan that says We are sorry to have to charge you £45 tax on your tank of fuel.

Another example could be: We are fighting Brown to get tax down.

There are many ways the garages could help. Once a few start to be more customer- friendly to reduce this tax, all the others will rush to follow, this I am sure.

I shall only use garages that show concern over having to collect this absurd rate of tax.

The AA, also the RAC could do a lot more to help their members.

I am very dissatisfied with what they have achieved so far, especially the RAC. I am sure they could do far more at very little cost.

What about every member sounding their horn at 11am every day, or drive to Downing Street on August 1.

This tax is taxing a vast amount of money out of nearly every household in this county and sending it to London, to be used for the daftest things one can imagine, it would be far better left in people's pockets to spend as they wish.
