AN artist's impression could help lead police to catch one of the men thought to have attacked an Asian woman with a baseball bat.

The 19-year-old victim told the Evening Advertiser she thought she was going to die in the attack, which was believed to have been in response to the terrorists attacks in America.

She claims two white men struck her seven or eight times, and that the man pictured above looked her in the eye and kept hitting her, even though she pleaded with him to stop.

The attack happened at 8.15pm on September 14, near Manchester Road. Police believed the motive to be racist.

The man in the picture is described as white, aged between 22 and 30, with light blue eyes, short fair hair, and a thin goatee beard.

At the time of the attack he was wearing a black quilted jacket and a dark polo necked jumper.

The police officer investigating the case, DC Neil Grabbe, appealed for anyone who recognises the man to contact him on Swindon 528111, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

He said the victim, who suffered serious bruising to her head, was still suffering from headaches but otherwise appeared to be recovering.

DC Grabbe also said the woman was intending to start a university law course as planned next week, although she might "take a few days out" because of her injuries.
