A PUB has been transformed into a film set by a Swindon-based group of would-be film moguls.

The Vic in Victoria Road is the setting for the climax of Wonderful, a short film funded by Southern Arts and made with a mainly Swindon-based cast and crew.

It tells the story of a 70s and 80s boy band star turned pub landlord, who puts together a new act with musicians stolen from groups who play at his pub.

Filmed in seven days for a cost of around £5,500, Wonderful is the brainchild of five screenwriting students at Swindon's Cre8 studios in Regent Circus.

It also features actors from the Old Town Theatre Company, a soundtrack by local band You Are Here, and a crew of mostly Swindon technicians.

The film's producer, Steve Causer, 26, from Abbey Meads, said Wonderful was a combination of five scripts knocked into shape by a professional screenwriter at Cre8.

Steve said he hoped to finish the film by April and hold a premiere at The Vic or the Arts Centre, and was so pleased with filming so far that he hoped to interest TV companies.
