EAGER young diplomats from Trowbridge spent part of their half-term holiday honing their debating skills.
The youngsters, pupils at John of Gaunt School, went to a model United Nations conference in Belfast.
The purpose of the conference was for the students to find out about international issues and to debate them in a forum similar to the real United Nations.
Each school represented a different country and argued on their behalf during the debates.
Headteacher, Stephen Gee, said: "Conferences such as this are extremely valuable to young people. They give them a greater understanding of world events and give them first-hand experience of the work of democratic organisations such as the United Nations."
The John of Gaunt team, Kate Drysdale, Lizzie Reynolds, Richard Tyler and Waleed Bakali, representing Canada, were commended for team performance in all committees.
Waleed was also commended for contribution to the human rights committee, and Kate for contribution to the environment and ecology committee.
Mr Gee said: "Our students not only learnt a great deal from this conference but also contributed a great deal."
