A man who escaped police custody after failing to attend magistrates court is to spend the next four months in prison.
Vincent Sparkes, 22, gave police the slip from his home in Carstairs Avenue, Swindon, but was captured within an hour, Swindon Crown Court heard. He said he had battled to overcome a heroin addiction and couldn't bear the thought of custody without his drugs.
