Your report on March 15 concerning yobs in Upper Stratton making the life of Frank Barrett a misery by throwing eggs and stones at his windows, exposes a wider problem in society.

Today many youngsters have no respect for others and no discipline at home or in school.

To suffer with heart problems is bad enough without this sort of nonsense to contend with. There was a time when the local copper on the beat, or neighbours, as well as teachers, could have used corporal punishment to chastise them. Now in the name of "freedom of expression" it seems kids can do what they like and run riot.

Shame on the council and Swindon police for doing nothing. He asked for a transfer and the council did nothing. It seems the police are fobbing him off as well.

This is just one of many such cases. Someone must have some idea who these yobs are and they should be dealt with promptly and no messing. If they are too young to be prosecuted then their parents should be taken to court and jailed if necessary for failing to control them.

Discipline is now a dirty word, particularly among the left wing and liberal do-gooders, who it appears to me would rather see pensioners suffer than young yobs punished.

The police and council should realise that Mr Barrett wants action, not words, from the council and police.
