CHIPPENHAM'S new playing fields came a step closer when members of the town council agreed to spend up to £150,000 creating two new accesses.
Members of the strategy and resources committee agreed last week to delegate responsibility for the creation of both of the new accesses to the playing fields working party.
The site is on the left hand side of the A4 just oustside Chippenham and an entrance on to the A4 Chippenham to Calne road will at first be used by contruction traffic, and later by playing field users.
A second access on to Stanley Lane will be for use of pedestrians and cyclists only.
The planning application for the work was submitted in February.
The work on the A4 access is expected to cost £100,000.
The Stanley Lane access will cost £50,000 and there will be £10,000 for consultancy fees.
