Daniel Wheeler celebrated his sixth birthday in style by officially opening the newly refurbished Somerfield store in Wootton Bassett High Street.
Daniel, a Thomas The Tank Engine fan, was given a special balloon, a birthday cake and a train set all depicting his favourite tank engine.
After cutting the ribbon, assisted by store manager Gavin Anderson-Terry, he took away a huge bunch of blue balloons for his friends at Wootton Bassett Infant School.
"Daniel's well known in here; he's been coming shopping with me since he was tiny," said his mother Kay Wheeler, whose daughters Rebecca, ten, and Bethany, 10 months, shared his special morning.
Somerfield, Britain's biggest High Street supermarket, has spent more than £175,000 on improvements to the Wootton Bassett branch, in a £35 million nationwide programme.
The product range has been widened and newspapers and magazines will be introduced in the next few weeks. The store opening hours have been extended and it will be open from Monday to Saturday 7am to 8pm. and Sundays 10am to 4pm. There are also extra express checkouts.
Manager Gavin Anderson-Terry said: "We are very pleased with our new look store. We will continue to give shoppers excellent value across their entire weekly shop."
