SHERSTON and Christian Malford primary schools took the honours as Seagry held its first junior football and netball tournament in two years on Saturday morning.
More than 120 children and 200 parents flocked to the village playing fields in Seagry as eight local schools took part in football and netball tournaments.
The event was the first since 2000 and came after last year's tournament was cancelled due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease.
Sherston won the football tournament, beating the host school 1-0 in the final, while Christian Malford emerged as the victors in the netball competition.
Sutton Benger, Maud Heath, Walter Powell, Hullavington and Kington Langley were the other primary schools taking part in the successful event.
David Brown, headteacher at Seagry School, was delighted with the response from pupils and parents alike.
He said: "It was very good this year. We had hundreds of parents there and the pupils enjoyed playing in front of such a big crowd. The weather was kind to us and the school provided everyone with refreshments.
"Our thanks also go to Seagry Parish Council for getting the pitches ready in time and Sodexho, who marked the pitches for us.''
