YOUTH FOOTBALL: WILTSHIRE under 18s will be looking to reap revenge on behalf of their more senior counterparts on Wednesday night when they take on Hampshire in the final of the Southern Counties Championship.

The county's under 21 side were beaten 4-2 by the same opposition last month, and Mel Gingell hopes his side can round off a successful season when the south east county champions travel to Melksham Town's The Conigre ground for the end-of-season showdown, kick off 7.15pm.

Gingell, who led his side to the south west championship, has a full squad to pick from but knows his side face a tough test.

He said: "Hopefully we can win it, although they will be very strong. But, I've said it before, it will take a very good side to beat our lads.

"With the disappointment of the under 21s getting beaten by Hampshire in their final, we will be looking to make up for it.

"To win this final and the league would have been something you could only dream about at the start of the season. We've won the league, now we've just got to finish the job off."

Of Gingell's 20-man squad, only goalkeeper Jason Grubb and James Sutton of Salisbury City will be available for selection next term.

Said Gingell: "My one regret is that it will be the last time these lads play together. They have been exceptional this year. I'll have to start again next year and I'll be pleased if we find another squad of players as good as this lot."

Wiltshire squad: Gary Banks, Kevin Banks, Neil Grant, James Highmore, Jason Walsh (all Chippenham Town); Simon Hancock (Corsham Town); Ashton Turner (Devizes Town); Danny Allen (Forest Green Rovers); Jason Grubb, Dave Macey, Gordon Smith (Melksham Town); Gary Craven, Richard Knox (Swindon Supermarine); Daniel Dominey (Westbury United); Matt Mallett, James Sutton, Kevin Thick, Paul Traies, Steve Marwood, Luke Gorman (Salisbury City).
