JUST six months after undergoing surgery for a triple heart bypass, Devizes postman John Kelly is joining eight of his colleagues on a 53-mile cycle ride from London to Brighton.
The 54-year-old former lifeguard at the old Devizes outdoor swimming pool has accepted the challenge to take part in the ride to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Nine local people who work at the Royal Mail sorting office in Maryport Street, are getting ready for the ride on June 16.
They are feverishly collecting sponsorship to meet their target.
Stephen McCourt, the team captain, said: "The team wanted to raise awareness of the UK's biggest killer, heart disease.
"It is hoping to raise around £500 for the British Heart Foundation."
As well as Mr Kelly and Mr McCourt, the other team members are Glen Fielding, John Smith, Clive Adams, Billie Lavens, Susan Frost and Sarah Botham.
Anyone wanting to sponsor a team member can call in at the delivery office in Maryport Street.
Or they can get in touch with the team on (01380) 725945.
