A TEENAGER suffered head injuries after being assaulted by a baseball bat wielding youth in a "totally unprovoked and motiveless attack".

The attack happened when the 16-year-old was approached by an Asian youth in Salisbury Street, near the Broadgreen Centre in Swindon.

Alvina Kumar, Swindon police spokeswoman, said: "The suspect was with a group of about seven or eight Asian males who were present at the time of the assault but were not involved. The victim was terrified by his ordeal and suffered injuries to his head which required hospital treatment."

Police describe the attacker as an Asian male with a slim build, who was clean shaven and wearing a white or grey T-shirt.

Witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 7.30pm last Thursday, should contact PC Colin Baker on Swindon 528111.
