August

Swindon Supermarine and Chippenham experienced different levels of success on their Dr Martens debuts.

Marine didn't look out of place in the higher flight, but lost 1-0 to Atherstone.

Then boss Clive Maguire saw his side go on to lose each of their three remaining games in August.

Chippenham started with a 2-1 win at pre-season promotion favourites Bilston, and remained unbeaten for the rest of the month.

Chippenham finished the month with a 3-0 win over Marine, as the Wiltshire sides met in the league for the first time.

Like Marine, Cirencester suffered a sorry start to the campaign, losing to Solihull, Mangotsfield and Bilston, before picking up a point at Cinderford.

September

Marine began to enjoy a turn of fortune and their first league win at Cinderford which coincided with the capture of loan signing Dave Toomey from Tiverton. Toomey hit the winner.

Marine also embarked on a decent FA Cup run, dispatching Screwfix sides Calne and Elmore and forcing a replay with Newport County.

After enjoying a tremendous start to the campaign, Chippenham faltered, and lost the division's final unbeaten record against Evesham sparking an alarming dip in form. Town went on to lose to Clevedon before crashing out of the FA Cup at St Blazey.

Ciren won their first game at Rocester, then made great progress in the FA Cup, disposing of Gloucester, Bournemouth Poppies and Christchurch to move within 90 minutes of the first round proper.

October

Marine endured a terrible time, losing each of their seven league games, leaving them bottom of the division, and prompting boss Maguire to quit.

Chippenham got back on track after signing James Bent from Yeovil.

Following a minor blip at Weston, Tommy Saunders' side beat Bloxwich, inspiring an unbeaten run of 17 games.

Ciren suffered FA Cup heartbreak at Tamworth, coming within five minutes of a place in the hat for the first round draw.

Ray Baverstock's charges continued to struggle in the league, suffering heavy defeats at Atherstone and Stourport.

November

A host of names were linked to the vacant Marine hotseat.

Former Swindon Town legend Steve White was the early front runner, but the Hunts Copse board opted for ex-Cheltenham boss John Murphy.

The response was immediate, and Marine picked up five points in four games, despite losing the services of top scorer Toomey.

Ciren finally reproduced their cup form in the league, with three successive wins and Chippenham began to emerge as genuine promotion candidates.

Marine and Chippenham crashed out of the FA Trophy at the first hurdle, but Ciren beat Ryman League outfit Uxbridge to progress. Troubled Bloxwich United withdrew from the league, leaving only one relegation spot.

December

New boss Murphy kept the results coming at Marine with a 4-0 win over Warwick, followed by an excellent 1-1 draw at Chippenham on Boxing Day.

The festive derby aside, Chippenham win four without conceding and gain revenge on Evesham with a 6-0 win.

Ciren's Trophy hopes came to an end during a 6-2 thriller at Kingstonian, while poor league form saw them slip back in the drop zone.

January

Murphy's honeymoon period ended dramatically, and Marine failed to pick up a single point during January.

Chippenham continued to press Halesowen, beating old foes Clevedon 4-0 in front of a season-high gate of 1,106 while Ciren played just twice, losing at Clevedon before beating Stourport 4-0.

February

Chippenham showed signs of nerves as the title race began to hot up.

Three consecutive draws followed a 1-0 defeat to Gresley their first since October and things looked bleak at Hunts Copse, where six successive defeats left Marine well adrift of the pack.

To make matters worse, the club's main sponsor folded and substantial wage cutbacks were expected to prompt a mass exodus.

But both manager and players stood firm, and managed to give themselves a glimmer of hope with a fine 3-0 win at fellow strugglers Rocester. Ciren quashed any lingering relegation fears with wins over Marine and Atherstone.

March

The Marine resurgence continued as Murphy's troops thumped Shepshed 6-2 and also picked up points against Bilston and Stourport.

Chippenham's poor showing in February looked to have handed Halesowen the title.

The Bluebirds were now fighting to see off the challenge of Solihull and Weston for the second promotion space.

A draw against Weston and victory over Solihull put Saunders' men in the driving seat.

Off the field, Hardenhuish Park was passed fit for the Dr Martens Premier Division.

Ciren started to show some consistency at last, winning five out of six.

April

Ciren finished the campaign in typically inconsistent style, with three wins and three defeats.

The club also said farewell to the Smithsfield Stadium, as they prepared to move to their new £2 million Corinium Stadium next season.

Chippenham rediscovered their relentless midseason form to real off five straight wins, clinching the second promotion spot three points behind champions Halewsowen, and 11 ahead of third-placed Weston.

Saunders boys' added the Wiltshire Premier Shield by trouncing a young Swindon Town side 4-0 in the final.

Marine pulled off the great escape after collecting 15 points from seven games. A 2-1 win at Bilston on the penultimate weekend of the season secured safety.
