SOME 200 young pedal pushers from Swindon are getting set for the Blue Peter Bikeathon at Coate Water on Sunday.

The children will be joining an estimated 25,000 young people across Britain taking part in one of the largest cycling events ever held, to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

And the Blue Peter team has sent out a special message for those taking part in town: "At 11am on Sunday join thousands of Blue Peter viewers across the country and help us beat last year's record amount of money for the fight against leukaemia."

All children who pay in sponsorship money will receive a special Blue Peter badge and a certificate signed by Blue Peter presenters Koni, Simon, Matt and Liz plus Gary Lineker.

Last year the Swindon Blue Peter Bikeathon raised £8,271 as part of a massive £353,000 for leukaemia research.

You can take part in the event, which starts at 10.45am, by checking into the late entry desk on the day.

"We want the Coate Water Country Park Blue Peter Bikeathon to be a great success in this special jubilee year.
