I wonder if any of the Gazette's readers are aware that there is about to be another great train robbery?

The difference is, it is about to be committed by this Government.

The Government is robbing the railway of the investment that it desperately needs to stand any chance of recovery.

Our economy depends an an efficient rail network. This cannot be achieved without massive investment which would dwarf the figures proposed in the first ten-year plan.

We should say no to car use, throw out the Government's spending plan, raise the level of investment and shield ourselves from the dangers of Hatfield, Southall and Ladbrooke Grove, disasters which haunt our failing railways.

The Cullen report into rail safety recommends that trains be fitted the ATP system to stop them passing signals. We cannot afford not to implement it.

We should strive to help prevent climate change by reducing pollution and safeguarding the remaining countryside.

We should not relax until the trains buses and cycle routes to provide a clean and efficient alternative for essential schemes to connect trains with bus and cycle routes.

There should be more large scale investment in electrification of the rail network to make trains faster cleaner and more reliable

Do not let the Government commit the second great train robbery
