THE latest production by Pewsey Vale Amateur Dramatic Society, the comedy Out Of Order, has been hailed one of its greatest successes in recent years after playing to packed houses.

Nick Mitchell-Briggs, one of the cast of eight in the play, which is produced and directed by Martin Clifton and Simone Lay, said: "To my knowledge we have never had such attendances at a play in the history of PVADS."

There were full houses on Wednesday and Friday there was no performance on Thursday and on Saturday a packed audience of more than 120 saw the show.

Mr Mitchell-Briggs said: "One woman in the audience asked if it really was an amateur company presentation because she genuinely thought we were a professional touring group.

"It was probably the best thing we have ever done and full credit goes to everyone involved. The support from the public was very gratifying."

In a brief review, one member of the audience said: "The members of PVADS did surprising justice to the fast moving and racy plot with Andy Vowles and Nick Mitchell-Briggs giving their all to the two main roles of MP Richard Willey and his parliamentary private secretary, George Pigden.

"Both of these performances would have stood up well within a professional theatre company.

"Congratulations, too, must go to the supporting cast and, in particular, the female contingent who were required to perform the greater part of the play wearing nothing but very pretty underwear."

The next production by PVADS will be during the Pewsey Carnival fortnight in September.
