PEWSEY Vale's innovative Wigglybus celebrated the beginning of another three years of life on Saturday.

A brass band played and a cake was cut outside the Co-op Pioneer store in Pewsey to usher in the second phase of rural transport in the Vale. And the public were able to see inside a new bus.

The bus wiggles off its main route to collect passengers who contact the call centre in Gloucester.

It recently won more than £400,000 funding for the next three years.

It is now able to buy three new buses, one to increase the service in Pewsey Vale and the other two to start up Wigglybuses in the Calne and Mere areas.

The new services are due to start in December but until then the new buses will be used on the existing routes between Pewsey and Devizes while the current buses are repaired and upgraded.

In Pewsey Vale the evening service is to be extended to four nights a week from Wednesday to Saturday.

There will be an extra bus for two Pewsey lunchtime services.

The Wigglybus currently runs hourly on three routes around the Pewsey Vale.

The current service is a partnership between the Pewsey Vale Transport Appraisal Group, Wiltshire County Council and Kennet District Council.
