A FOURTH person has been arrested by police investigating claims of cheating on the television quiz show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 35-year-old man, who has not been named, was interviewed last week at a police station in the Avon and Somerset area.

Major Charles Ingram, 38, his 37-year-old wife Diana, of High Street, Easterton, and another quiz contestant were arrested and interviewed last year.

Major Ingram, who is based with the Royal Engineers at Upavon, answered the £1m question correctly to win the top prize on September 10 but the cheque was withheld by programme makers Celador following allegations of cheating.

A major police investigation was launched by the Met's special inquiry team, following claims that Major Ingram was helped to win by someone in the audience coughing to indicate the answer to the £1m question.

No-one has been charged with an offence, but police say the investigations continue.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the fourth person went to a police station in Avon and Somerset on April 24.

He added: "He was arrested in connection with an allegation of conspiracy to defraud."
