LANDLADY Liz McGregor will be raising an extra large glass for the Golden Jubilee because she too is celebrating her Big Five 0.

Liz, who runs the Kingsdown pub in Kingsdown with her husband John, 52, is normally shy about revealing her age.

But she is prepared to make an exception for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second this year.

"I had hoped to keep it quiet. But it's such a great year for the country, I'm happy and proud to share my special year with royalty."

And to help enter jubilee spirits, Arkell's Brewery in Swindon has created a unique ale in homage to the Queen.

Liz said: "I'll definitely be trying a half or two and certainly don't feel my age. With two reasons to party, we will have a brilliant time."

Although Liz's 50th birthday was in April, she is determined to relive the celebrations for the Golden Jubilee.

On June 3, the Kingsdown, which is just across the road from the brewery, is throwing a car park party which will feature old-fashioned games and a barbecue.

"The beauty of our pub is that it caters for all ages. There will be something for every-one," she added.

Arkell's royal tipple, called Jubilee Ale, is made from the finest Scottish and English hops to give it a suitably golden colour.

The family-run brewery has produced three other beers for royal occasions.

Managing director James Arkell said: "Prince Charles and the Queen Mother have written in the past to compliment our creat-ions. The Queen has yet to comment, but maybe that will change this year."

The special brew goes on sale on draught or in bottles from May 13 and Mr Arkell hopes to present the Queen with a crate of the ale in the next few weeks.

"It will be available in pubs across Wiltshire and other counties in the South West, includ-ing Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.''

For keen revellers, 36-pint party packs are also available, along with gift box sets, featuring an embossed glass.
