MORE disabled people in Wiltshire will have access to the world of IT thanks to a Co-op community dividend grant to help refurbish old computers donated by businesses.
A £985 grant from the Oxford Swindon and Gloucester Co-op has been awarded to Scamp, a charity that provides long-term loans of computers to 550 severely disabled people in Swindon and Wiltshire.
The service is provided free.
Scamp gives full training in computer skills including how to use the internet. The charity also has its own site for use by Scamp clients. Local organisations often donate redundant computers to Scamp. They are then refurbished before passing on to clients. The grant will be used to buy computer equipment and software including modems and Win-dows packages.
