A VERSE for the golden jubilee sparked jubilation for a Durrington poet Christina Watkinson.

She received a special thank-you from Buckingham Palace, acknowledging the work she does as a student in IT workshops for the visually impaired at Salisbury College.

The poem was sent on behalf of the Wiltshire Blind Association.

The reply informed Mrs Watkinson that the Queen had received the poem "with much pleasure" and sent "her good wishes for the work of the Wiltshire Blind Association and her admiration of the work of Mrs Watkinson".

The letter has delighted Mrs Watkinson (42), who also had two poems published in an anthology earlier this year.

"After losing my sight, I found a whole new world in my imagination," she said.
