I agree wholeheartedly with E Vertannes letter. I have lived in Penhill for the past two years and have found nothing but friendliness and good neighbours.
With regards to the possible closure of the footpath between Penhill and Abbey Meads, this is snobbery at its worst. No matter where you go, be it private or council estates, there will always be an undesirable element.
I have been a taxi driver for more than four years and have never had a (runner) fare-dodger from Penhill, nor have I had any troublemakers from Penhill.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Abbey Meads, having had a runner and also been subjected to threats of violence and verbal abuse on more than one occasion.
Perhaps whoever is making the allegations that problems are being perpetrated by residents of Penhill would be better served by looking closer to home. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
