I have not been to the new Swindon nightclub Soda, but from the letters I have seen from people who were refused entry simply because they were old Vadims customers, or because they were not trendy enough, or over a certain age, I don't think I'll bother.
No other nightclub in the town, to my knowledge, has treated loyal customers in this outrageous manner, so why should Soda?
I have been to other clubs and found them very welcoming and friendly places.
If people had been turned away because they were drunk or wearing the wrong clothes, fair enough. But to discriminate against anyone without a good logical reason is out of order.
If people had been turned away because of their colour, religion, sex, or accent, they could take legal action against the club. But if it seems any establishment, organisation or individual can discriminate on age and there is nothing that can be done.
No one has any control over their date of birth, anymore than they have over their colour or where they were born.
I don't blame your letter writers for being bitter over the disgusting way they were treated, no one deserves to be discriminated against in this way.
If the nightclub Soda wishes to create a system of prejudice between different groups of clubbers it will be the managers' own fault if they go bust.
Their loss will be their competitors gain.
I'Il go anywhere other than Soda. A snobby attitude is the last thing I want to find when I go out.
