I was delighted to read John Short's comments regarding the vigilance of his staff in recognising the sub-standard materials being used by the contractor responsible for laying the new Lawn cycle path.
I wonder if he could send the same eagle-eyed employee to view the recently completed remediation work carried out on a stretch of Southernwood Drive.
The original contractor a television cable laying company failed to sufficiently backfill the trench.
As a consequence the tarmac quickly sank leaving a rut in the road.
A second contractor recently 'repaired' the work but has left the road in a worse condition than the original job.
The new tarmac is lifting and has disappeared in places, while the ruts are now deeper and wider.
Incidentally, the repair was carried out by a team of workmen in an orange vehicle with the words Swindon Contractors written on the side.
Does this mean that any repair to the repair will be paid for by the Swindon council tax payers?
