CHIPPENHAM football stalwart Les Weir is swapping the great game for a riverside pub.
Mr Weir has stood down as vice-chairman of Chippenham Town Football Club to concentrate on his new venture.
He and landlord Pete Jones are ploughing £80,000 into taking over the Riverside bar in Chippenham town centre.
Mr Jones, who now currently runs the Brewery Arms in Langley Burrell has also run the Rose and Crown and the Pheasant pubs in Chippenham.
The pair have bought the lease of the Bath Road premises that has a prime spot alongside the River Avon and the town bridge.
Mr Weir said the aim was to have the pub open this summer.
He said: "It will be a caf during the day and a bar in the evening. Because of its position we feel we can get a lot of summer trade."
