MALMESBURY will not be celebrating the Queen's jubilee.
The town council confirmed that the only major event, which was being organised by the town's football club, has been cancelled because of a lack of cash.
Edward Ferguson, town clerk said: "The football club has been the only group in the town to officially register an event with the town council."
Alan Woodward, the chairman of the town's chamber of commerce, was astounded that people would not be involved in an official town event.
The chamber of commerce is intending to plant a tree for jubilee year, but no definite plans have been made yet.
Derek Tilney, the chairman of the Malmesbury branch of the Royal British Legion, said: "It is very disappointing. Because no one has done anything we will be supporting events in Crudwell and Hullavington."
Churches Together, which involves churches in Malmesbury, is to hold an open-air service in the Cloister Gardens on June 3.
