TRIPLE double vision is the order of the day at a Swindon playgroup.

Twins Tiffany and Selina D'Silva, four, Jessica and Kiera Lay, also four, and three-year-old Lucy and Ellie Brown all attend St Mary's Playgroup in Bessemer Road.

And they're not averse to having a little fun confusing the staff, according to supervisor Elizabeth Morton.

She said: "We've never had this many sets of twins at one time before.

"The three are never all here at the same time, but Tiffany and Selina and Jessica and Kiera are here together for two afternoons per week.

"We do get confused because the girls are all classed as identical twins.

"If you're looking at Tiffany and Selina or Jessica and Kiera from behind, you have a job to tell which is which.

"The only difference is that Tiffany and Kiera both have little marks on one cheek.

"Lucy and Ellie are also identical, but Ellie is slightly smaller.

"The twins have played tricks on us, each claiming to have been the other one.

"They don't do it too often, but they do it!"

The playgroup, which has 57 pupils, has just celebrated its 20th anniversary.

It did so having bounced back after an arson attack before Christmas.

The fire in a storage shed belonging to the group destroyed £3,000-worth of toys including bicycles, climbing frames, balls, scooters and safety mats.

As a result, the group was forced to delay its post-Christmas reopening.

While repairs were completed, the playgroup divided its time between a classroom at St Mary's Primary School and Ferndale Church Hall.

Meanwhile, local businesses and individuals rallied round to donate toys and money, Wootton Bassett food company St Ivel donated Lego bricks and the Evening Advertiser gave items collected in its 2001 Toy Appeal.

The playgroup holds two sessions per day, with about 20 children taking part in each.
