Swindon Town goalkeeper Bart Griemink will celebrate the birth of his first child by signing a new contract at the County Ground tomorrow.

Baby Ruby decided to put in an appearance last Sunday and the overjoyed keeper has been too busy playing the doting father to concern himself with contract negotiations.

But with both wife Becky and baby Ruby in good health, Griemink is ready to pledge his future to boss Andy King in a new two-year deal.

The 30-year-old former Peterborough keeper explained: "I spoke to the boss on Tuesday, and everything went well.

"I expect to sign on Friday. There was never a problem with the contract on offer.

The only reason there was a delay was because I haven't been thinking about football for the past few weeks I've been thinking about my wife and my baby. But now we can sort out the contract and look forward to next season."

Griemink explained that Ruby's birth went without a hitch, but admitted that his team-mates had joked about the keeper's handling of his daughter.

"I'm really delighted with her," said Griemink.

"The birth went well. My wife was in labour a long time, but everything went okay.

"She was eight pounds, so she's a big girl she takes after her dad," added the Dutchman.

"I've had all the cards from the lads joking about me dropping her but hopefully she's in safe hands!"

With David Duke also agreeing to an extended deal, midfielder Matt Hewlett remains the only first teamer yet to make a decision prior to Saturday's contract deadline.
