A 42-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance of mother-of-four Linda Razzell.

Police confirmed they have still not located Mrs Razzell, 42, of Pentylands, Highworth, who went missing on March 19.

Police held a press conference yesterday afternoon to announce the arrest but refused to give any more details about the person who had been detained at Westlea police station in Swindon.

Mrs Razzell, a part-time learning assistant at Swindon College, vanished after dropping off her children at school in Highworth. It is believed she then drove her normal route to work in Swindon, parking her red Ford Escort as usual in Alvescot Road, Old Walcot.

There has been no trace of her since, except the recovery of her mobile phone from a nearby alley.

Mrs Razzell's cousin Julie Westmore, who has travelled from Llanybydder in Wales to help look after her children, said nothing has been heard of Linda since she was last seen.

"There is no news," she said, speaking from Linda's home. "There is no hope and it is very frustrating. We are taking each day as it comes and keep hoping for the best."

It has been confirmed that she had no spare clothes with her, left her passport behind and has not made any transactions from her bank account.

There was also a reconstruction of Mrs Razzell's walk to work, via Upham Road and Drove Road, carried out by a member of Swindon police's support staff fitting Linda's description.

Concern had been voiced by members of Mrs Razzell's family as well as her boyfriend Gregory Worrall, who made an emotional appeal for her to return, and her estranged husband Glyn, who said he thought she did not wish to be found.
