YOUNG artist Sam Wild, seven, of Cherhill, made it to the final of Coca-Cola's Draw for England competition.

Out of more than 1,200 entries, Sam's design made it to the final after being voted top in the five to seven age group for the south region.

Sam narrowly missed out on the national prize to have his design created into a pitchside Coca-Cola advertising board for England's first phase of the World Cup matches this summer.

It will be the first time a stadium board at FIFA World Cup matches has depicted more than a sponsor's name and traditional logo, and the first time that a member of the public has designed the imagery.

Sam and his family met with 20 other regional finalists at an art gallery in London to present his design to a national judging panel, including Adam Crozier, chief executive of the Football Association, West ham and England goalkeeper David James and artist Tony Hart.

As a runners-up prize, official FIFA World Cup sponsors Coca-Cola will feature Sam's design on their website and he will receive a prize pack.

Martin Norris, Coca-Cola communications programme director for Britain, said: "All the designs were of a very high standard. "Well done to Sam."

The national winner was Adam Hindle, seven, of Huddersfield.

Adam and his family will fly to Japan for England's World Cup match against Sweden on June 2 to see his design in situ.
